Damn poachers! Too bad elephants have to be caught up in this - I'd hate to see them become extinct.

the should just have a drone follow the elephants around
if someone trys to harm them the drone could fire back from 30,000 ft
drones would make great park rangers because the person controlling it can be anywhere in the world

I can't stand poachers. How can someone willfully eliminate the life of an endangered animal? It's so freaking selfish!! !

I think this is a great idea, though I hope they also try to address the economic problems that lead people to resort to poaching. Don't get me wrong, I think poaching is terrible, and this will be a great way to deter it, though I would love to see that issue be stamped out once and for all. (yes, I just made an elephant pun ;))

Also, I know someone who was a former US Marine. She's a great person. :D Semper Fi!

Poachers are why I don't like poached eggs.

Seriously: we really have to respect our animals; they are the ones who created us humans.

Actually I think they are starting to use drones to guard the African parks as well. Have seen that on TV.

^^There is plenty of other stuff to eat that's not endangered. Most serious poaching involves parts of the animals and the carcasses are left to rot, they remove the tusk or the horn from the rhino. Some animals wind up in the illegal exotic pet trade. Many die when being smuggled out. They caught one man on an airplane with a Fiji Iguana hid in his plastic leg.I believe it was worth $15,000 on the black market.
If they people guarding these animals have training they are less likely to be murdered,a turtle biologist that was protecting some nests was murdered by poachers awhile back.He was alone and had no way to defend himself.

I've often wondered what various endangered animals would taste like. Not that I would actually go out of my way to kill an elephant to eat it, but if I were doing a tour of Africa and someone offered me a piece of elephant jerky, I'd try it. At that point it's already dead, so what more harm can be done? Of course, I wouldn't encourage them to kill any more of them.

Just imagine if the marines stuffed and mounted the poachers they shoot.

A rumor should get started that poacher penis soup makes a man extremely virile.

The only semi-redeeming factor, if you could call it that, is that poachers in these other countries are only doing this to sell the ivory to feed their families or move out of poverty. Sympathetic but in no way something I can condone.
