Hi there.

Recently, I discovered this Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/groups/adultsw ... ssyndrome/

I was happy there, and everybody is really nice.

However, the Admins running the page are total idiots, and shouldn't be there.
Basically, they kicked me out overnight, with no warnings whatsoever. (Apparently they accused me of being racist).

When I took it up with a member of the Admin team the following morning, he ensured me it was just a temporary kick, and they'd let me in later.

When I inquired with a member of the admin team this morning, when I woke up. I got an incredibly rude response from one of the admins, when I asked what was going on. I was informed that the ban was permanent

Plus a whole lecture, who is he to tell me that. He's not my parents.

I'm not playing the victim here, I'm just saying it's highly unfair, and they claim to be an Aspie group, but the Admins are the most unsympathetic lots I've ever come across, and they should go.

Thanks

They seem to have limited skills and recourse to the authoritarian approach.

They seem to lack the middle skills.

F**k 'em. Post here instead. Its not like you are out thousand dollars. Not worth the fight.

I think getting locked into one thing and despairing over it is a common Aspie thing. I once got in to a real mood when I couldn't fix the electric window on my pickup truck. I called my oldest bro and he pointed out that I was making too much of it, and he was right.

Thanks guys for the support, however it's not because of that, it's the fact that they are turning away Aspie people, and those kind of groups are supposed to be for people for to come togethe, and not be in circumstances like that.

I sent an angry letter back, then blocked the whole admin team

I can get in under a fake account just fine, however I'm trying to get a point across.

I'm not just annoyed that my access has been revoked, I want to get the whole admin's teams attitude, to your attention.
It's like they don't really want to help us, and they are happy being higher up, and ordering the usual guys around.

God gave me a voice, and the ability to communicate, and I might as well use it for once.

You're welcome!

And we will continue to build our own positive, respectful, free-wheeling, imperfect community right here at WP. :jester:

My Three Step of Society Theory :)
Step 1 - Define and enclose a region, group or domain.
Step 2 - Create a social order withing the domain.
Step 3 - (Now this is the real goal) Pretend it's important.

Many forums are like that. It also applies to things like royalty, politics and other groups and organizations. I developed this observation after reading about a murder over who would be president of the local cat protection society.

"I don't think you understand. I said stop. All you're doing is making it worse for yourself. You're still not following directions or accepting what you're being told."

More like:

"We're not even going to try to explain why we banned you, but chastise you for questioning our decision."

it does have a facebook group, its just very crap, theres much better and more popular [=more posts] ASD related groups on fb;unfortunately theyre more for parents so as individuals of the spectrum there isnt really the connection and peer support we get on here.

the other issue with fb groups is a lot of them are public so everything we post comes up on our fb 'friends' news feeds, not good when we are wanting to discuss things privately, like talking about the strong possibility of our child relatives being on the spectrum when have got their highly in denial mother friended [found that one out the hard way].

Seems like an obsession with some made-up rules that only they know, at the expense of concern for other people's feelings.

I know some people with AS who make up certain rules that, in their minds, all people should follow in order for them to be able to accept these people. They don't communicate these rules explicitly but just exclude people whenever they don't conform to these rules. It's ridiculous. Thankfully only a portion of people with AS are like that.

You should point out that, since you're banned from the group he's a mod of, he doesn't actually have any power over you or any chance to "make it worse" and you'll say whatever you like to him. Sounds like someone on a power trip.

Mind you, you didn't show us your original post so we have no way of knowing it wasn't some horrible slur...
