I'm sorry this happened, that's terrible! How did they even know you have autism?

Loner - were the kids who shouted at you from your own town, or were they outsiders?

In your own town, do most people treat you with respect?

Oh dear

Back on topic.
Warning, Aspie-Autistic person trying to explain the motives of other people.
Just because people go to an anti racist concert does not mean they are not racist. They can go to the concert because they like the artists in the concert or just because it is a party type event.

Warning, Shameless promotion of my online petition.
In a larger context people can say things in a "reputable" public forum about people on the spectrum that would hurt or end a persons career if they said them about other minorities or the psychically disabled. An example is the Psychology Today article I am unsuccessfully trying to get removed.

Idiots are amongst us unfortunately. I hope it didn't spoil an otherwise pleasant evening out.

To the OP.

I'm sorry that this happened to you. I know how hurtful it can be.

Sadly though I don't think it's unusual to hold a tolerant or progressive view towards one group and to happily ridicule another. In my University days it was fashionable to be seen as anti-racist but many of those same people were wildly homophobic.

Many people just take their tolerances from the majority. Autistics aren't yet a widely understood minority so these people were happy belittling you but they would hate to be seen as racists.

I wonder if they were in fact racists attending the anti-racism event?

Whatever, it's totally unacceptable behaviour, the perpetrators are rude boorish verbal and psychological thugs.
