Pessimist or Optimist?

I'm a pessimist myself and I'm wondering if this is an AS trait.

Why would someone arbritrarily state that a glass is half full or half empty? Think about it.

I'm an optimist. I tend to look at the good side of things now.

Maybe I should have just made it "optimist or pessimist".

I'm an optimist. but not to a point where I let my guard down or fail to use good judgment.

No, maybe you should have added a third option "I prefer not to label myself."

Realist, the world is a tough place, and I'm not going to get any breaks.

Actually, that would make you an absolutist.

Being a realist would be to say, 'The world is a tough place, and I statistically am unlikely to/probably won't get any breaks'.

While we're talking about labels, I'm a pedantist.

Oh, and Megalomaniac - maybe there should also be options to say 'both', 'neither', and 'what glass?'

My glass is empty.

Definitely an optimist.

completely depends on my mood and what's happening in my life at the moment.

I remember a Bizarro cartoon, three men seated around a table on which there is half a glass of water.

First guy (looks depressed): "As a pessimist, I say the glass is half empty."
Second guy (looks very happy): "As an optimist, I say the glass is half full!"
Third guy (wearing a lab coat): "As an optometrist, I say 'What's the difference?'."

What type of liquid are we speaking of? Sewage, milk, water...?

I am neither optimist or pessimist, I am a realist. I see the good and the bad and I weigh them out logically.
