Been To My First Pride Parade.

My wife, daughter and I attended the Pride Parade this afternoon in downtown Spokane, Washington. I'm very happy to say, there was quite a crowd gathered to cheer on the marchers, many of whom were dressed all in good fun in stereotypical gay and drag queen fashions. There was even a truck full of drag queens bearing a sign reading: "Tea Bagging Party," for which I laughed my head off. Accompanying them were the local county Democrats, the socialist party, and other progressive groups celebrating equality and liberty. The counter demonstration was abysmally small, and was drowned out by the marchers breaking out in song when they tried to condemn them all to hell. One of the dick counter demonstrators had held up a sign reading: "You deserve to die." I think that last demonstrated which side actually represented Christ's real values. Here's a hint - - it certainly wasn't the sign waving homophobes.

there is some controversy as to whether he should be termed "trans-gender" versus trans-vestite, but he had surgery so I am leaning towards the former.

Don't give up hope. Remember, Spokane has a reputation of being too conservative and provincial (especially by us Spokanites), but there are more than enough of us to disprove the stereotype.

If I ever have to move into a town when I get old,it'll be Eureka Springs.Its the prettiest and the most open minded town in the state.Lots of artists,musicians,good food and cool little shops.

Weed is the lowest priority for the cops,the town seems to have it all.

There's a haunted mansion turned restaurant in Spokane. George Bush Sr. had had dinner there while visiting during his term. There are various other older buildings that are unofficially haunted, including one where the remains of a baby were discovered from - I believe - the 1920's.

Interesting to see what it's like in other places. I went to ours this past Friday, it's huge, 100,000 people marching, about 25,000 of them coming especially from overseas for the event. I had a wonderful time marching and didn't even feel the 34 miles! But the crowd is so tightly packed, it's not easy.
