What role does pain play in your life?

I'm in a little pain right now. For the past week my left ankle hurts when I move my foot around. It's not bad but it's annoying. I heard that aspies and auties often have a seeming insensitivity to pain, even to something that would cause most people agony, but I seem to be hypersensitive to any "danger signal" my body gives me and I don't always know if it's something harmless or the start of something DREADFUL. Stomach pain? Could be gas, could be appendicitis. Sore throat? Could be a cold, could be swine flu! Headache? Could be tension, could be a tumor! ...No, it's NOT a toom-mah!

I have constant joint pains, which get worse if I move or sit uncomfortably. I'm not immobile, but everything I do hurts to a certain degree. Have to be very careful not to over-excert myself.

Also have chest pains most of the time, due to both excessive stress and digestive problems.

Most of it is probably caused by my thyroid problems, or maybe the thyroid problems are caused by the stress. Could be either way.

I'm trying not to let it discourage me too much though. I walk to the store regularly even though it hurts, and I try to go see my friends regularly, even take walks with them. Of course it hurts, but if it's not too much I choose to ignore it. I've changed my diet a lot lately, which seems to help, and I'm also gonna start taking yoga classes next week.

The right attitude really helps a lot, even if some days can be hell.

I get headaches pretty much every day (I have a particularly annoying one right now). Not to mention I also get a lot of back pain as a result of my terrible posture. Today my arms hurt after yesterday where I carried around two heavy folders full of years worth of my artwork and helped out my dad by carrying 14 computers (not all at once though ).

I suspect I have hypermobility, because I'm really flexible and my joints hurt a lot of the time.

^Works just fine for me.

I'm just sore most of the time because of work.

Rarely. I also have a very high pain tolerance.

Same here. I've started doing pilates stretches every day. Have a look into it, you might find it helps your posture and eases your pain. I've only been doing it for a week, so no results yet.

I ache all of the time. I would love to know what a pain free life feels like. I am always tense. I have to remind myself to relax. I don't know why. Even when I sleep at night I am tense. Apparently I am difficult to move when I'm asleep.
