I think it's probably Hebrew, too.

You do get the name "Iacobus" (Jacobus) as the Latin form of the word James, on coins of King James 1, and James 2, though.

Also the period when James 1 reigned is properly known as Jacobean.

I think it might have been more appropriate for me to have put this information in the "Say something boring and pointless" thread!

:D

Thank you I always get name origins from Latin or Hebrew mixed up.

That came out just fine. Normally I don't use my computer I copy it in my head off the air and use this little guy to send. Is an example, not me actually sending but is same model as my bug. :)

Dave Davies would be the perfect name for a fly trap.

I have a Venus Flytrap, but it's not sentient, so I see no point. It gets lots of food... :D

hey fabaspie,

You can hear the name "Æthelbert" pronounced in Episode 33 at history of english podcast dot com website (at 12:00). It's a short "e" sound, like in "get."

As for the other, I would say Miss-tis-slav.

The first name that scampered into my brain when I first read your post was "Gurrohrburii." Inexplicable, I know. So many r's. Others with fewer r's:

Ghredaminzey

Lyredifyt

Names with no r's: Celeste, Molly

Miss-tee-slav is a bit closer. I usually just called it Misty.

Jaws. I've never named a plant before. Though I named a picture. One of my obsessions is unicorns and I use to sleep with a picture of a unicorn, it was printed on a piece of board. I named the unicorn and kept him under my pillow. I was a weird kid...
