Unsurprised. I had been self-diagnosed for five years prior to getting my "real" diagnosis; it was basically just a formality in my mind.

Albeit a formality that lets me get free money from the government and tons of support when I go back to university, lol.

I got diagnosed with autism just a few weeks ago. I have known all my live I was different so it wasn't a surprise.

I was happy to get the comfirmation but on the other side sad that it was official now.

In the end I have to deal with it but I now have a piece of paper that says I have it. Other than that, it doesn't mean much to me.

When I was first diagnosed, I was pretty casual about the whole deal. Now, however, I think that the shock, disbelief, and denial are hitting me (and this is almost a year after the diagnosis). I honestly never thought that I would be autistic, no matter how high functioning it might be. I'm only now just trying to come to terms with it.

Good luck dealing with this man! I know how hard it is in the beginning.
