I'm not the only one who can remember the exact date then?

I got mine at 12 years and 7 months. It was 25th November 1998. I wasn't ready to grow up and I literally fell to pieces with it. I missed about three days of school because I just wouldn't stop crying.

I guess not...and November 25, is my birthday. Yes, autistic people have very good memories. I can recall being in the incubater at the hospital after I was born and my dad looking in on me.

I got mine on Independence Day in 1997.

I think I started mine on April 23, 2009.

Whoaaaaa. I'm really surprised at the high number of gals who got it as a terrible birthday present from mother nature. That's kind of cool, in an awful now you have to deal with it, sort of way. xD I got mine when I was 15. We were moving across the country at the time. I don't remember the date, but I'm awful with dates and times.

Cool, I got it at 14 years and 3 months as well. :)

I heard when you get it is determined by weight. They come when a girl hits 90 lbs and stay regular once she's over 100 lbs, for some ladies this weight needed for regular period can be as high as 120 or 130 lbs.

I was almost 15. I never told my mom (because why does anyone else need to know about my menstruation?) so when I was 18 she took me to a doctor for the first time in fourteen years because she thought I hadn't had a period yet. Of course, she didn't tell me that's why we were going to the doctor and she was fairly annoyed to find out that I was, in fact, menstruating. She never took me to the doctor again.

Mine was actually 150 lbs. As a 100 lb 12 year old girl, I had no signs that I was menstruating at all. After I had taken Risperdal for 6 months (I quit cold turkey after that), gained 50 lbs, and had a growth spurt, I finally got my period.

I was an early bloomer. I got mine at 10.

I remember this solely because my mother said right after I called her from the nurse's office, "I've been waiting for this moment for two years."

FYI: The "MrBear" post was me -- that was my autistic male friend having been last to log in on my computer :P No worries!

13.5 years old. While I knew to expect it, I was in an earlier stage of puberty than I think is common to start menstruation and I definitely mentally wasn't ready for it, either. I had an eating disorder starting in sixth grade to try and delay puberty, hoping to not get my period until at least age 16. Obviously I failed and I saw this as a personal failure (eating too much, etc.) My periods were very infrequent, though painful. I didn't get my period ever during swim class, which was once a week in my Catholic school (through 8th grade). It eventually got to be an every 6-9 weeks event with vomiting, but now I rarely get my period due to hyperprolactinemia. Birth control pills were the only thing that really normalized it. I had a growth spurt of 2 inches and breast development from A to D cup in college. I don't know what I would have done if I had gone through precocious puberty... That would have been so scarring.

Mine was age 7. I'm 6 inches shorter than my mom because of it. It also means that my IQ is probably lower than it should be due to accelerated maturation.

I got my first one when I was 12, but then didn't get another until I was 14. My doctor thought part of the issue was that I was on a medication that made me gain a lot of weight (100 pounds in 15 months)

I had my first one two weeks before I had my 14th birthday.
