Cashier is a bad job for an aspie

However, outside of STEM there are not many good jobs for aspies

Restaurant retail sales

You have to work somewhere

Some stores have fewer customers and less noise

I have spent more time standing behind cash registers than doing anything else in my life besides maybe sleeping.

Boring stupid unfulfilling and low pay. But its better than being unemployed.

Herpes is great...when compared to syphilis.

Cashiering is also great in the same way. Great compared to nothing at all. Or compared to embalming dead bodies, or something like that.

So that's my [damning with faint] praise of cashiering.

In all fairness I worked mostly in chain drugstores. Did not do sophisticated cash register stuff that they do in grocery stores. And most not in super faced paced stores. And besides being boring as hell its not THAT unpleasant. I like MOST of the public. The one percent who are bad apples can ruin anyone's day whether you're NT or ASD.

Cashier is better than, sales

Cashier is still bad

But you have to work somewhere

"Beggars can't be choosers"

In some cases, cashier could be the  least wrong  job

The solar system might not contain your ideal job

If it did, your ideal job, is also many peoples ideal job

And some of those people, have better skills or personality than you (based on the employer)

Not many people work their ideal job

They still work jobs
