It is being reported that Jim Parsons, Johnny Galeicki and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting do not yet have contracts for the next season, but problems in signing them on aren't expected. Speculation is that they may all reach $1,000,000 per episode.

And the show has been extended for three more seasons.

They are playing the Hollywood game of getting more pay. Or, they could go the same route as Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men), and become very outspoken and "crazy for money." Sheen's goal was to force producer Chuck Lorre (also producer of The Big Bang Theory) to pay Sheen the $20 million contract "kill fee" and release him from his contract. It worked flawlessly. But, maybe Lorre is onto that ploy by now.

Yeah, but I doubt Jim Parsons is a drug addicted lunatic like Charlie Sheen, either.

All of them have reached "terminal velocity" on their careers.

Because of BBT, none of them can expect to ever work again when it ends. They will be cast in their current roles for the rest of their lives.

Make the most while you can because you can't expect to just find another role once your current job ends.

Sometimes, as an actor, being the 2nd string actor is the better for your overall career.

Many actors go on to other things even after they have been associated with one role while others end up playing more or less the same role forever. For example, William Shatner went on to completely different roles after Star Trek that were nothing like Captain Kirk. My favorite was his role as Denny Crane on Boston Legal.

But you are right that most actors really don't transition to other roles. The real reason, I suspect, is that there are so many actors available who are hungry for their chance. It takes a great deal of luck, drive, and talent.

His drug addiction aside, Charlie Sheen knew exactly what he was doing. He faced the choice of simply paying a lawyer (or seven) to drain him of a few million dollars battling in court against big-Hollywood. He chose, instead, to play "crazy" in public and embarass his producers into paying what was rightly his all along -- free of any cost, except that to his ego. And, one's ego belongs only to himself, doesn't it? If he felt okay with this tactic, who are we to judge? It was funny how he stopped being "crazy" the very moment that his producers agreed to pay off his contract. I admire anyone who can get what is his without running like a whiner to some judges and jurors. I would like to see more of Sheen's kind of legal creativity in society.
