Has any WPer in the USA tried this new "Pepsi with Real Sugar"? I know that pretty much all non-U.S. Pepsi drinks are made with real sugar. I like it; it goes down more smoothly than the HFCS-laced Pepsi. :)

What's it called on the label?

I don't think I've tried that.

I'm not sure how that would go over in today's health conscious world. I hope it goes well for Pepsi-co.

Until recently, it was released with a retro-style label here in the US under the name "Pepsi Throwback". It was just last month that it got relabeled into "Pepsi w/Real Sugar".

Health-wise, I don't think it matters. Diet sodas are just as godawful for your body as sugared sodas, and people who drink diet sodas tend not to lose any more weight than people who drink sugared ones. But for me, I've gotten so accustomed to the taste of diet sodas that I want to gag if I take a sip of a sugared one by mistake.

I wonder what the American consumers would think when they read, "With Real Sugar" on the label. Would they buy it, or run like hell?

^I would probably think to myself "huh. interesting" and walk away because I hate soda.
I don't recall ever seeing it in stores though. Not yet.

I think the standard Pepsi in Oz is with "real sugar". There's the semi-newish Pepsi Next here, which uses some plant based extract in place of some of the sugar; it's not that bad (nowhere near as bad as the Diet ones. They're just awful, and you should feel awful for drinking it).

Corn syrup or sugar, it's equally just as bad I think.
So I make my own soft drinks (sort of) like this:

I wish Coke would start doing that. I drink Pepsi when Coke isn't available but I prefer Coke. I would try the Pepsi if I go somewhere that has it but I'd rather buy Coke to have at home than a pack of cans of Pepsi I may not like & I highly doubt many eating places would serve it due to health concerns in media even if there well known to be very unhealthy like McDonalds so I may never try it.

Stevia. The only low-cal sweetener I've found that doesn't taste like crap.

I have relatives who go right to the ethnic section of the store and empty the shelves of soda made in Mexico that is made with real sugar. I don't think I drink 10 sodas a year, if that. I don't even have any real sugar in my apartment. I use honey for sweetener in anything that needs it.

I'm sure it's a marketing ploy and it doesn't in fact have real sugar.

I've had "Dublin" Dr Pepper before (supposedly contains cane sugar)

Was the Dublin better than regular Dr.Pepper? I know Coke used to be made with cane sugar & I don't know if I ever tried it but my parents insist it tasted better. I doubt what they use now instead is much more healthy. There's LOTs of misinformation & misconception about things being healthier than sugar that I know aren't much more healthy. I had a conversation with my Doc who's a nurse practioner & encurages me & my gorlfriend to eat more healthy; & she said that diet drinks are really no more healthy than regular soda.

Not true. Some sweeteners affect you as sugar would, others don't.
