The Churchills
An Israeli psychedelic band from the late 60s. Their records are very rare and go for hundreds of dollars.

Pentagram
One of the early pioneers of heavy metal, circa 1970!. Never made it big, their lead singer was an addict (crack, heroin, and meth) until recently when he started touring again. Fairly well known now due to the documentary "Last Days Here".

Helikopter
A grungy band from Baltimore from around 1993-1997. I have one of their 45s.

The Residents
Sigur Ros
Sufjan Stevens
GG Allin
Lydia Lunch
Pentagram
Helikopter

The most obscure musician I know is some brony musician with zero subs and two likes, but I can't remember what he goes by. :P

Friends' bands - some existing, some disbanded. Wouldn't feel comfortable talking about them without their permission.

I don't know how obscure these are but...

Townes Van Zandt - not really that obscure, but he did have a live album titled "Live and Obscure"

The Incredible String Band - a psychadelic Soctish folk rock band from the 1960

Bodies of Water - a contemporary Los Angeles based band that for some reason reminds me of the Incredible String Band even though they don't sound similar at all.

The Billy Nayer Show - I really only know this band from the film "The American Astronaut" but their style is kind of fun.

Baby Gramps - a folk musician from the Pacific northwest who sounds a awful lot like Popeye.

Well, I could probably namedrop a few local bands I'm a fan of, but that would be stretching it. ;)

Anyway, some of the most obscure bands I know are:

- Contaminant (German industrial black metal)
- Zaraza (Quebecois death/black/industrial/experimental metal)
- Vildjharta (progressive/death/"djent" metal)

You may already know some of these bands if you frequent Encyclopaedia Metallum or watch random Youtube compilation videos of obscure metal bands, but if you don't odds are you've never heard of them.

The most obscure bands/groups I know are Nation and Dream B*tches. The former are rappers from Canada that I found on MySpace, an is currently making its rounds in Canada. USA hacked upon tem yet. The latter was a New York-based anti-folk band that should have caught on more, but to no avail.
