You don't have to listen to music with your mum all the time. Maybe you could get a CD player for your bedroom, and listen to your music in there while your mum listens to her music somewhere else.

Most kids don't like the same music as their parents. It's very normal.

How about ear plugs for a portable CD player? Either for you or her.

It can be said the older generation dislikes
the younger generations music. This is
because it doesn't express the older, per say.

My Grandmother(84) once said her mother hated
big band music, There was the myth also that
elvis(young persons at that time) music wouldn't
survive because the older generatiion didn't like
it. You my friend, are the new generation, and
may your music outlive your parents dislike.

I personally listen to rock(my favorite early 70's)
and do enjoy classical, 90's rock, hate 80's music,
had to listen to Andy Williams, Lawerence Welk
on Saturdays bacause my Grandmother liked it
and that was why I hated it. As I got older I learned
to appreciate their(older generations music) as
they have come to appreciate mine.

God Bless, and listen to what you like!

P.S...For now use a headset and you both should get
along? Hmmmm?

Your mom caused? Your mom may have made you angry but you were the one who broke the clock. Your chooces determine your options. And this was one option you lost, I guess.

I guess you have to try to earn extra money to buy a new one. Maybe mown a neighbors yard? Pick up cans for recyclying?

I think you should get a portable CD player, so you can listen to your music when your mom wants to listen to her's. Maybe you can save up enough money so you can get one.

You can always have a sense of humour about it.

I think the portable CD player idea is good.

If you can't get one, how about tolerating her music? We all have things that annoy us, but sometimes we have to learn to tolerate these things and be more accepting. We can't always get our way.

Don't worry, my parents don't like my music and I don't like their music either. They listen to Asian Oldies and I listen to rap. You should listen to your music in your room and they can listen to their music in their room.

Well, my favorite music is modern hits and my mom's favorite music is classical. But we both do like oldies and Lite Music, however.

I could just listen to that stuff.

But hey Mara, you like rap too...that's good stuff...my favorite song is "Hot In Here" by Nelly!

Leon,

You are 14. Most parents hate the music of the younger generation. In fact, because my brothers are so much younger than I, I cannot stand the music they listen too. It is part of the generation gap.

I don't even like the music of this generation. Fortunately, I get most of my tastes from my parents. I'd suggest CD player, or just suggest something you both enjoy.
