Does anyone else suffer with anxiety/feeling of things not being real after you play a computer game.

it really freaks me out, I feel detached from real life for the rest of the day, like I am floating around, I was playing sims 3 for about 2 hours and I feel really odd now, I got quite anxious before I was told to lie down and being on the laptop makes me feel a bit better because that's what I would usually be doing.

such an odd feeling, hard to describe

That feeling you're talking about is called depersonalization.

I haven't played sims 3 in over a month, since my laptop broke

But at least I no longer hit people with a computer mouse and tell them what to do

I have trouble playing scary computer games, where something might kill you or jump out at you. Ever since I was a little boy, I get so into a game, I kind of forget it's not real and get so panicky, in video games I would often turn it off right before I got to a boss level.

yeah sims 3 is one of my favourite games, I actually want to buy sims 2 again, I used to have it but lost it some years ago, I miss it.

yeah I think I get to focused into it, and it makes me naturally anxious.

I'd actually recommend the Sims series for people like us.

The world is chaotic, uncontrollable, confusing; even moreso for us!

At least in this world, we are in control. Everything is predictable, ordered, and an unsurvivable disaster can be undone by simply going to an older save file.

Ah, peace. :hic:

Wouldn't it be great if you could go back to an old save file in real life. :P

It's strange, but sometimes I feel anxious before I play my Sims games. Just thinking about it makes me feel uneasy. Maybe it's because I want to do something in the game that is going to take a lot of extra time, effort and some luck, like recently I've been trying to get the musical machine chips installed in all my Plumbot characters so they can play all the songs on the laser-harp. I've been putting together a series of videos of the Plumbots playing different songs, and a lot of them sound really cool! But I have to check the Plumbot store every day to see if they have the chips for sale, improve my Sims bot-building skills so they can make them, or save my lifetime points to unlock the trait chip bundle, which is random and I may or may not get the musical machine chips I want. Also The Sims 3 is really slow on my computer. Loading, saving, switching worlds, traveling to countries or creating a Sim takes ages! My Sims 2 game isn't as slow and I'm relieved to not have same problem on The Sims 4 after I bought it two days ago.

Not quite, but I described to someone why I don't really get engaged in shooter- or horror-type games and he said it just sounded like overstimulation. I remember Sims being a pretty mellow game, though, so maybe that's not it for you.

This is why I stick to games like Tetris. :)
