Same. For me it's heavy metal in German by Rammstein - I can't speak German but I'm kinda sorta teaching myself how to sing along with them.

Mein Herz Brennt and Ich Will are my two current favourites  Luv those aweome deep bass and drums!

YAAAAY RAMMSTEIN

One of my loves from late primary school. So clean and heavy!! Do you like their earlier albums, Herzeleid and Sehnsucht? Both incredibly influential on my development. I had a tape with one album dubbed onto each side. Play, stop, flip, repeat.

I'm not sure which of their songs are from which album - I just have a running playlist that I keep shuffling in my head and listen to on Youtube. I recently burned my first-ever CD, full of Rammstein - the only song I couldn't find a good version of on itunes was Wilder Wein (I love that song so bad!) The songs I burned were: Mein Teil, Du Hast, Keine Lust, Ohne Dich, Reise Reise, Bestrafe Mich, Sonne, Ich Will, Fuhre Mich, Mein Herz Brennt, Du Riechst So Gut, Rammstein, Spieluhr, and Nebel. I can sing along not half-bad to those. Next song I want to "learn" is Weidmannsheil.

That song has always calmed me down. Also, it's one of the coolest areas in a game ever in my opinion.

i am a big fan of tomas bergersen and two steps from hell; both make so-called 'epic' music (a subset of trailer music), which is just what i need to relax.
basically, it's what you hear during commercials for the hobbit movie or WoW-type games (and during the actual movie/game as well)

Ada Gio - I found her while looking for weird music for Halloween and loved the music?seems a bit dark, but totally relaxing.
Of course, I love Chris Botti, Gypsy Kings, etc.

little_blue_jay - Wilder Wein is amazing! One of my favourites! I love the Live aus Berlin version:

How good is it when they rock out in their sombreros
Man, listening to this takes me right back... I can't believe this was released in 1999 :o
I used to hammer this album on repeat... Definitely learned the lyrics by copying the phonetics, though I can't remember much these days.

sharkattacl - Tubular Bells is one of my emotional release compositions as well :) I had a CD called 'The X-Themes,' a comp of theme songs from various sci-fi/horror films when I was a kid. Another one of those releases I played end to end when I was in primary school. I have it on vinyl now and it still gets a spin when I'm feeling weird... Only issue is that it tends to make me cry. I'll figure out why one day :P

---

Here's another one. I really love the atmosphere of this album-- really interesting use of stereo and layering of elements. It's interesting because it's often quite out of tune which I usually don't like, but in this instance seems to add the the overall feel. Beautiful music.

bungleton, thanks for that! They're awesome! Till's voice

For my CD I wanted the studio version but I couldn't find it on iTunes.

Now I'm addicted to their song Hallelujah! Frickin' awesome music.

1960's soft rock, some Smooth Jazz, New Age, Celtic (Clannad), Renaissance and similar genres..............most, not all, metal rock and 'rap' pisses me off to no end.

I think the music of Ray Lynch (new age) is extremely relaxing. His most famous song is probably "Celestial Soda Pop" from his Deep Breakfast album.

I find all of these to be soothing. When I need absolute soothing, I usually listen to classical music with lots of violins/ viola's etc. Music is something I absolutely love and can always have going.
