I find Alice In Wonderland to be quite timeless, here's an interesting thing about the movie that you don't see and will probably never see out of movies anymore: IT HAS NO PLOT! The story is essentially just Alice looking for the rabbit, and that's that. It places so much emphasis on the artistic presentation of individual scenes, rather than a strict narrative that most movies today fixate around... Problem with a strict narrative is that it's often a one-shot deal, once you know what's going to happen, the film losses most of it's spark on additional viewings. Most films need to contrast revelation with artistic presentation... something that you don't see very often. What Alice in Wonderland did was completely drop revelation in favor of presentation, the film as a result, I think is kind of "Meh" on the first viewing, but it gets better and better with additional viewings, which is my theory on why the film was received poorly when it was first released, but the critics started to like it later on.
