And the Honey Tan genuine leather interior is so much more nicer than the gray and black interiors of today, even with the so called cheesy woodgrain trim. My cars interior has held up quite well over the years a lot better than other 80's American cars and quality is good for what it is.

*cars

Even though they may have their own 'personalities' when it comes to mechanical reliability, there is just something so rewarding when you drive a car old enough to be a classic. Yeah, I feel that most cars nowadays are soulless appliances. For me, down the line when new stuff comes out and what is around today begins to dwindle in numbers and become more unusual on the road, that is when I take interest in any car and my appreciation for them goes up. Its interested when I see a car like our old 1995 Ford Taurus Wagon, and my Dad's 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan might start becoming more unusual in a few years as well.

I agree, Auntblabby and AspergersActor. Cars from the time when cars were cars are the best. My personal favorites are the VW Beetle and Chevy 57 Bel Air. But I like all cars that have a 'personality' and I was appalled to see the AMC Pacer listed in that thread in the Arts, Writing and Music section. It is so not ugly!

Modern cars are just boring, they all look so similar.

Speaking of special cars, I bet none of you knew that Norway produced a car named Troll in the 1950's. Only 5 cars were ever made though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_automobile

Occasionally I'll see one of the good old ones passing by and it's always so nice to see them.

You say you like 1957 Chevrolet's Skilpadde, In the garage behind my Eagle in the picture posted sits a 1957 Chevrolet 210 sedan. It is that iconic turquoise blue with the ivory white roof and 65k original miles. It is my dads car and that is where my desire to drive an old car came from. :) The really cool thing is before my dad got it, my grandfather had it and put the majority of miles it has on it, and before he had it it was my great grandfathers car, and before that it was a brand new car on an Upstate NY dealer lot! :D That beauty is our family heirloom and someday I hope it will be passed on to me.

AspergersActor8693, you are so lucky to have a 1957 Chevrolet 210 sedan in your family's ownership! The only cars that have been owned within my family are Vauxhall Victor (which would have been nice if I could remember it, but I was too little), a Fiat 127 (which I liked, and I was very interested in observing carefully when my grandfather worked on it) and a Toyota Rav4. There was a long period between the Fiat and the Toyota that we didn't have a car. It's pretty easy to get by here without one.

Do you think you could post a pic of it?

Pacers are only slightly better-looking than Gremlins.

LOL.....obviously not!

But I used to love them, anyway.

I find that they were well-made, and didn't break easily. Very valuable for a person who tended to break things purely by accident. They were also realistic looking.

I remember these cars on the road from the 1970s - at first it was an intersting style, then the Pacer was viewed as almost comical - the AMC Gremlin was always laughably dorky.

Glad Wikipedia has a LINK on the AMC Pacer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_Pacer

Oh… No. someone revived the Pacer Thread ………. I think in the late 1900s they passed laws against driving Inverted Fishbowls on the Road.. it was a Unique vehicle.

A sharp poke intended. For Auntblabby…..responsible Party for starting the thread. 8O :D

Well truthfully , I do not know much about the mechanical design of the Pacer car. But it was such a odd looking vehicle compared to more svelt design of the other vehicles from that time….. hmm.. at least is was not a Yugo. :)
