Some people are, some are not, just like in the general population

I'm very "un" handy.

I hate the Home Depot/DIY culture LOL

I'd rather just hang out and watch sports--perhaps even play sports.

"If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." -- Steve Smith, as "Red Green" from the Canadian TV series of the same name.

This should only be taken so far; once women (and people in general) find out that you can fix things faster and cheaper than most "professional" repair services, you'll never have a moment's peace. Not only will you be trying to keep up with your own wife's honey-do list, but you'll be helping ever other husband try to keep up with theirs.

I'm not Home Depot handy, but I'm handy with electronics. Most of the time when people in my family need help working their electronic devices, I'm usually the person they come to. :)

It's a great ability to have.

Too bad I don't have that

But that's all right: I'm good in other things.

I am, but picky about what I do. It showed at the very beginning, and I was often making things as a kid. As soon as something really caught my interest I would try and make it. Robots out of an erector sets and motors and parts from my Dad's junk pile. A deep see diver suit made out of a pretzel container, saran wrap and masking tape, with air pumped in from a reconfigured pool filter system... (nearly drowned myself that time ) My Mom was convinced I would be an engineer. But I hated math. In the military I become known as an improviser and resourceful and was usually put in first to set things up, etc. I spent a lot of time repairing electronics and electro-mechanical things. I still do things, but now more domestically orientated. I love landscaping, and am teaching myself carpentry while remodeling the house. I have also been dabbling in masonry. I have always had a dream of building a medieval tower all out of stone but with wood fittings and electricity.

As long as I/You can keep the "human relations" element out of it. I am a super duper handy person. Put HR in, and it's guaranteed to end in disaster. Think Elmira's love.

I'm fairly handy. I've been told I'm handy----for a GIRL!! LOL That's alright cuz I know too many UNhandy "girls" and they tick me off!! I can, like, put together a bookcase that comes as "assembly required". I'm not afraid of hand tools cuz my grandfather (who was a carpenter back when houses were built out of real bricks) taught me how to use them----I think drills are totally COOL!! I can do things with cables, and splitters, and stuff----also, I can fix some problems with computers and peripherals. Other than that, I've got a couple of rolls of duct tape----I can fix ANYTHING!! ! LOL

I am a handy girl. When I need something I become MacGyver like.
I could make a TV antenna using tape, toothpick and some silver cover of chocolate.

Seriously (asking)? I wanted to understand a bit about stuff like that.

Well, I never actually tried making a TV antenna like this (although I made a TV antenna cable hub to connect 1 antenna to 3 TVs using transparent tape and scissors when I was 10, and it was working for next 7 years) but I made a radio antenna using the components when the original antenna broke - and it was working just fine (and it was not working without it).

LOL..MacGyver has entered into our language in a big way.

Have any of you actually seen the TV show MacGyver? I was on from the late 70's to the early 90's, I believe. I know it started in the late 70s.
