I felt detached from others all my life.

Oh, you can't help that, said the Cat: we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
How do you know I'm mad? said Alice.
You must be, said the Cat, or you wouldn't have come here.

As I feel most detached when other people don't understand me, I don't see detachment as entirely internal I see it as relating to problems communicating. Maybe that's not all of it but I think the problems communicating have a big effect.

I can feel very attached but when other people are attached to me in their mind that means being around me, trying to get me to talk, letting them in. It's a bit like having a romantic partner and they want sexual intimacy from you and no matter how much you want to make them happy you can't. It's hard to care when caring hurts and you end up disappointing the ones you care about.

I don't connect more than often, but I reach out more to my siblings than anyone.
