I dunno about the rest of you, but I have some activities that I find incredibly soothing. Not stims (though I have those too), but just activities I find comforting.

One of the most comforting things for me is puzzles of all sorts. My favorite is probably a puzzle I myself came up with--I call it a "reverse crossword," and all it requires is a sheet of graph paper and a pencil. (NOT a pen--you want to be able to erase!) Basically, I give myself a theme and see how many words/short phrases I can come up with that fit that theme...but they have to fit on the paper, either horizontally or vertically, and they have to intersect with other words. Like a crossword, but in reverse...hence the name. :P

Here's an example, the theme being HS characters:

Puzzles in general are soothing for me, though. I love the tile puzzle thing in Pokemon, for instance.

I also get a real sense of calm from organizing random things. For instance, I like "un-shuffling" my collection of tarot decks--putting the cards back in order.

So does anyone else have an activity that soothes them?

I tend to watch people fighting on youtube. Like actual street fights or MMA stuff... I quite like seeing grown men beat the living snot out of each other.

The sound of the falling rain when I'm in bed at night.

Rain and thunder for me.

Listening to the rain against my window.

Listening to the ticking of clocks.

Listening to calm voices (like documentaries).

Playing Solitaire or Mahjong.

Watching the same movie over an over and over and over and over again. If this universe is going to be so damn unpredictable - at least I can create for a few hours a micro-universe that is 100% predictable. I find that soothing.

Of course rain and cloudy days - like others have said. Lots of people have England as one of their favorite countries. I'm probably one of the few whose favorite thing about England is the weather.

I like to press my hands against my eyeballs...

More activity-wise: I agree with r2d2 about watching something familiar, except I prefer TV shows like The Office, Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother. I've probably watched the complete run of these shows several times over.

Trees are very calming to me. And certain kinds of music. Movies and YouTube videos.

Watching Bob Ross. Everything about that show is soothing. From the sound of the brush on the canvas to his voice. I feel so relaxed while watching this show.

The thing in front is called my scarfy. It's very comforting to me because it's soft like cotton. I love it so much. It's like a security blanket for me too. It's actually just a ratty old scarf to others.

Do you experience physical arousal(i'm not talking sexual, of course) when you view these fights?
