I just cut myself twice on the face while shaving, does anyone do this quite often?

That happens to me occasionally, but not very often.

Never use a blunt razor.

You may find that shaving oil works better than foam, too.

Socciable hermit is right! How to shave RIGHT:

1. Always use a "safety razor"! MOST today are! You would be hard pressed to find one that isn't.
2. Use a SHARP one! That is MY biggest problem, as they become dull SO quick. If you fail to do this, hairs can be pulled and you will bleed a little.
3. NEVER move the blade side to side. If you do, it can be like a major paper cut.
4. Try to hold the razor head about even, or with the top SLIGHTLY away from the face. It will provide the best cut and safety.

Other advice?

5. Use shaving cream or a good lather.
6. Shave at night to prevent embarassment if you DO fail on the other 5.

BTW If you REALLY have trouble, just get a good electric razor and settle for a less close shave.

BTW As I recall, MOST boys can start shaving with something to really shave by 15, so dgd1788 isn't THAT young.

Only a few times, and only with a hand razor. Never with an electric one

Me cutting myself shaving is a reminder that I have been using that particular razor too long. When I buy a name-brand razor (my usual is Schick Extreme III), I can go two weeks with the same razor. (I don't shave on the weekend, and I have a goatee which means a smaller surface area to shave.) When I use a generic store-brand razor, sometimes it doesn't last the two weeks...

My X kept telling me --don't shave so fast - don't you ever cut yourself? , my dad don't shave that fast....

Yeah I've cut myself, but who hasn't? ,some times I still do today, especially under the nose where it's hard to get at the hsir right at the top.--I have to slow down to do the area under my bottom lip - I get scared I can cut it very easily in that area, and I have the feeling it would hurt alot.
