The gunman Ismaaiyl Brinsley shot his girlfriend in Baltimore. He then went to New York to "avenge" Brown and Garner by killing the 2 NYPD officers before finally killing himself in a subway station.

"Ismaaiyl"? This is an alternative spelling for "Ishmael".

Forgive me for profiling, but was he an Islamist?

No.

Don't take this as an endorsement as I oppose all violence but this is just an instance of the chickens coming home to roost, you can only harass and oppress people so long until they just snap. You have the NYPD saying they are a "wartime police department" now, what exactly were they before? New Yorkers basically live under martial law where these pigs are allowed to "stop and frisk" them at any time.

If cops are afraid they should think carefully about the unjust laws they enforce or just quit. I have no sympathy in this regard, they lobby for tougher and tougher laws.

Except those two police officers were picked at random and did not deserve to die. Resorting to violence with violence in most situations does nothing but end up worse, like in this one.

It's different if you kill a police officer in self defense, but just shooting them as a pre-emptive strike? That's not justified to do to anyone, even people such as police officers who have stated, explicitly or implicitly, that they don't care for peoples rights...

But, did he kill his ex-girlfriend to avenge Brown and Garner, as well?

Is the concept of self-defense applicable in this context?

No.

Those were unjustifiable, cold-blooded murders, plain and simple.

Just like when the Taliban terrorists murder innocent children, and then claim it as revenge for the previous deaths of other Talibanis.

Too bad the Talibani did not also kill themselves afterward, just like the man who murdered those two cops did.

These officers were picked at random as if they were soldiers for an opposing army. Tragic, but predictable. If police officers are going to start killing innocent people in the street, they have opened the door to similar reprisal.

I never said it was. It's like killing your neighbour after hearing them talk about how you're a subhuman who needs to be put down. Sure, you should take steps to ensure you can defend yourself, but you can't go and shoot them because they *might* attack you.

He had a lot of interactions.

Quote:
Brinsley, 28, had at least 19 arrests in Georgia and Ohio, spent two years in prison for gun possession and had a troubled childhood so violent that his mother was afraid of him, police said. He ranted online about police and the government and expressed "self-despair and anger at himself and where his life was," Boyce said.

I had no idea they sent police with dogs on a bus (! !!) just to sniff for drugs. It won't make the police more popular if they treat normal travelers like this. They should be happy if the drug users take the bus instead of driving themselves while on dope. Such a waste of resources.

Exactly, and yeah don't see how shooting his ex has anything to do with trying to take revenge against cops for those things. Either way just pulling a gun out and shooting a couple cops with no chance to defend them-self is BS...just like it is if cops murder people.

Jacoby, you are just incredibly unbelievable. The murders were inexcusable, and the persons or people who committed them should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I hope they get the book thrown at them.

So that excuses him for killing them? That's bullshit and you know it. They didn't do anything that deserved an assassination-style killing.

Killing the police will not solve the problem of police brutality. Not all cops are the same, people need to remember this.
