Ghostbusters Afterlife

It was enjoyable, and a worthy addition to the franchise. However, it is a remake of the original in many ways.

The Eternals, which seemed to drag on and had a very confusing plot. It was not my favorite movie in the Marvel series. 90% of the movie seemed to be about a reunion rather than super hero movie with lots of action.

I also watched "He's All That," which is a remake of the 1999 classic teen move "She's All That," which I have always loved watching. Though the Netflix version got lots of poor reviews, I loved it. Rachel Leigh Cook, who played the original Laney, played a character in this as well.

Eternals is based on an obscure comic that shouldn't have gotten a film lasting one hour, let alone almost three. I'm worried for the MCU now.

Dune … 5***** Soo goood! Epic movie. Read the first book way back when and had my doubts about this film … but it’s truly “worthy”. 8)

Last night we watched:

Free Guy [2021]
-=-"The world needed a hero. They got a guy."

This movie is really, really good!

Think Tron [1982] or The Matrix [1999]  but with comedy.

Just been watching The Glass Key, a 1942 offering from my 'Film Noir' box set.

Didn't really enjoy this very much. Plot is a bit obscure and the characters are just not very interesting and plain nasty on the whole. It revolves around a series of murders connected to shenanigans arising from an election campaign, corrupt business dealings and the activities of thuggish gangster types. I just about managed to follow the various twists and turns, but couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters or the outcome of the story. Stars Veronica Lake, Brian Donlevy and Alan Ladd.

Have always been curious about Veronica, but her performance here couldn't raise much interest.

5/10

No Time To Die.
I really liked it. Now I want to go watch some more bond films.

Despite this being a big hit earlier this year, I'm still skeptical of this movie.
The plot reminds me very much of The Truman Show.

Me, with no real skills, nor purpose in life, diving head-long into danger and poorly picking my battles.

Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings.

While it was loads of action and fun, as I had grown up with the Shang Chi Master Of Kung Fu comic book, it was still a disappointment.

Still loads better than Eternals. I'm very concerned about Phase Four.

The plot reminds me very much of The Truman Show.
Guy is an AI construct who exists in an electronic video game world that he is an extremely minor background character of. The AI gets a little too good and he deviates from his programming  but not to escape his world. Given that, I think Free Guy [2021] is more likely to remind me of TRON [1982], The Matrix [1999] and, perhaps a little, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence [2001]  except Free Guy is a comedy, as well.
