Last night, at my bride's suggestion :o , we watched:

Frogs [1972]
-=-"Today the pond! Tomorrow the world!"

It has an uninspiring IMDb rating of 4.4.

The Maltin guide gives it 2½ stars and says "Dumb but enjoyable thriller."

The frogs are real. And frog-sized.

I saw the trailer for that at the Drive-In as a little kid, then finally saw it as an adult a few years ago. Wonderfully campy.

I watched part one of Peter Jackson's new documentary about the Beatles - Get Back.

I don't know why I wanted to watch it because I didn't grow up listening to the Beatles, I don't really know anything about them and of their songs that I do know I only like maybe 2 or 3.

But I was absolutely riveted by it. It's astounding that this footage exists. I'll certainly watch the next 2 parts - it's about 8 hours in total 8O

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain

It had a lot of good actors/cameos, but I cannot say that I was particularly enthralled by the film. I also felt a bit uncomfortable with how the movie romanticized mental health issues.

Last night we watched:

Little Fish [2020]
-=-"Love is unforgettable."

This movie focuses on one couple during the beginning of a catastrophic global viral epidemic. When the guy begins showing symptoms they investigate enrolling him in a clinical trial for a cure but, because the treatment is experimental, unproven, and not even known to be safe, he decides to not participate. His symptoms get worse and he experiences long-term neurological problems because of the disease. She also contracts the disease and also has severe symptoms but the disease progresses more slowly in her.

And all that is just a coincidence. This movie is NOT about COVID-19!

The movie was released during the COVID-19 pandemic but production was completed before the COVID-19 pandemic existed. Filming was in early 2019.

The make-believe disease in the movie is "Neuro-Inflammatory Affliction (NIA)". It doesn't take your life, it takes your memories. The movie explores the couple's life as they begin forgetting things...like who the other person is and that they are married.

My bride and I agree the movie was well made.

It is a slow-paced psychological drama concentrating on that couple as their memories disappear.

Note that the disease doesn't just remove memories of other people. People also forget where they live. How to drive. Etc. Though forgetting about the people in your life can be jarring when you wake up in bed with them.

I would've preferred the movie spend more time on the impact on society. And a faster pace would've been nice.

It is an excellent movie but I'm not going to recommend it...unless you like slow-paced, strange, psychological drama (oh, there is a lot of romance, too!).

I really liked it. Now I want to go watch some more bond films.

Begin with the Bond films starring Roger Moore.

They are ridiculous and wonderfully campy.
