Possum.

British psychological horror film where a puppeteer, fighting mental illness, returns home with his horrifying puppet to the heartless uncle who had raised him after his parents had died in a fire. Trying again and again to destroy the puppet, the thing keeps returning to him, when he comes to understand the horrific trauma that had destroyed his life. Very disturbing but great film.

We also enjoyed all of the franchise (including the TV series!). Good fun. I sort of feel the fourth film should be watched first, however. What do you think?

That bothered me, too. But, strictly speaking, they didn't explicitly kill him, they just strongly suggested it. I think they left enough wriggle room that they could say Burt faked it...and even if he didn't fake it, he's been eaten by a Graboid before. Let's hope for another movie!

Oh. And while I cringe at saying this...because it feels so wrong...technically they could do another Tremors film without Burt Gummer. 8O But that would just be wrong!

Last night we watched:

The Voices [2014]
---"Hearing voices can be murder."

My bride's reaction was four adjectives: Good. Weird. Dark. Creepy.
I agree. It is a good movie. It is a horror/comedy. I enjoyed it but it made me feel faintly uneasy.

Oh, Ryan Reynolds fans...he's the star and he was good! (Um...the acting, not the character.)

Halloween Kills.

Sequel to the new Halloween reboot. Starting off where the last movie ends, the damn firemen rescue Michael Myers from Laurie Strode's burning house - - and get murdered for their trouble. The people of Haddonfield work themselves up into a lynch mob, chanting, "Evil dies tonight!" collectively becoming as much a monster as Michael himself. Then there's the question: as Michael has been shot and stabbed countless times, is it possible that he's become more than human?
Fun fact: The Last Starfighter had been directed by Nick Castle, who had played Michael in the original 1978 movie, as well as in the reboot and the new sequel. Meaning, Michael Myers had directed The Last Starfighter!
Actually an enjoyable movie. And yes, it left an open door for a sequel.

Mosquito Squadron

World War 2 film from 1969. Centres on a raid by British Mosquito bombers on a French chateau, to destroy a German weapons facility working on a successor to the V1 and V2 rockets, and also to free some captured RAF personnel being held there.

The film is not generally well regarded, being panned as a ripoff of better ones of the era, and for having poor production values. I didn't think it was too bad at all, certainly very watchable. Stars David 'The Man From Uncle' McCallum, who also played an RAF officer in the 1970s BBC series Colditz.
