The first book of a series by Orson S Card. I was thinking that the manner in which they got decisions would be a near optimal way for me to work - presenting the problems as a game to me. When I start to feel that it is actually important to work on something, I begin to lose my taste for it. Any thoughts about the books or the idea?

I Remember that book, it was good... but i read it about 500 books ago... still remember it, so it must have been good.

is there more in the Ender series? i either never found out or they wernt made when i read that one.

Books im reading at the moment -:

'The Iron Lance' by Stephen Lawhead
'Hood' by Stephen Lawhead
'Complete works of Oscar Wilde' (umm by Oscar wilde  )
'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen
'Othello' by William Shakespeare
'Death of a Salesman' by Arthur Miller
Historical context 'European History 1890 - 1990' by (can't remember)

Death of a Salesman is somewhat morbid.

Anyways, there are 7 more books in the Ender's series. There's one series that branches off from the character 'Bean' from the book Ender's Game. The book that starts off that series is actually called Ender's Shadow and it's about Bean's side of the story at the same time the 'Ender's Game' story is being told. It's interesting.

Both series are somewhat independent of each other. There are some indiscrepancies between the books but none THAT large.

The book in the Ender's series after 'Ender's Game' Starts off 1000 years later. It's an interesting read. The Ender's series is more oriented towards people are their feelings with politics here and there, whereas the 'Bean' series is all toward politics, except the last one - sort of - and some towards the feelings of people.

I WISH I read that much! I love reading but the "tyranny of the urgent" doesn't let me. I am at heart a bookworm and used to read a lot. My hope is to start reading like crazy when I graduate from school next year. and this summer.

funny you should mention this. I am currently working through this series. I wish I had read Ender's Game when it first came out (in 77); it would have made school so much better for me; that book really changed my life. I guess there was about 5-7 years between each of the books in the series until recently, when he picked up the pace on the Bean books.

I also like his book ENCHANTMENT, and the Alvin series, though they are all very different.

Ender's Game is pretty good, the rest of the books are pretty crappy though. Card goes into his "amateur mormom philosopher" mode. Not totally without merit but not great either.
