I used to like some the those bands, but it didn't describe what I feel. So, I like Christian music and adult contemporary music now.

Judging from the names I recognize, I would say your tastes center around progressive rock and punk, with a swath of metal thrown in.

I like rock pop, rock, heavy and metal music
I dislike rnb, disco and rap.

Guess my tastes are sort of eclectic, in a heavy music variety. A lot of music I listen to are bands then pop groups.

I do not think it really falls into a particular catagory, I saw a lot of like metalcore and othercore lol I don't know what they are all called, but that is largely derived from punk/hardcore punk though I think its sort of become its own kind of genre...But then you have David Bowie, some more electronic sort of stuff like combichrist and The Dope Stars(great band by the way)....and Manson, and some I guess you'd call it pop punk of the late 90's-2000's....is there a style out of those that is your preference?

I mostly listen to metal so consider myself a metalhead, but I also listen to a lot of other music especially if its psychdelic...metal is just my main passion in music. But one does not have to fit into a particular music subculture/scene...to enjoy the music. For instance I do actually like quite a lot of goth/punk/post punk but would not consider myself a goth or punk.

I agree with the comment above, it doesn't have to fit into a category indeed, although different styles fit under genres.

Likewise, I don't label myself either. Although if someone does listen to a majority of music, they would class themselves as goths, metal heads, punk rockers ect.

I don't think clothes define what people listen too, you could get a goth that may listen to lady gaga and someone that wears casual clothes, listen to doom metal lol.

Sounds like even if generally people enjoy one particular type of music, a lot of people will still listen to another type of music.

I go through phases, but the best way I could put it is to simply say I'm "alternative". I listen to metal, industrial music, synthpop, punk, grunge, trip-hop, breakbeat, ambient music, noise, prog, symphonic music, and a bit of classic rock. I like a fair amount of older mainstream music, but not so much of the new stuff.

I despise bubblegum pop, I think 99.9% of dubstep sucks, and I don't really care for straight rap or hip-hop, though I don't mind it mixed with rock or metal. I'm not big on country music either, though I don't mind it when a rock band does a country song every once in a while, and I acknowledge that country had a major influence on the roots of rock 'n roll.

Now, if I had to pick a favorite genre, I'd probably have to say industrial. I <3 Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Ministry, and Front Line Assembly. Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, and VNV Nation are pretty good as well.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I really had to say this..

You like Alkaline Trio, KMFDM, and Marilyn Manson? :D
They're my favourites. I don't find many people who like all 3.

Well you have quite a lot of different kinds going on there, so its a varied music taste...I guess its most all rock music(using it as a blanket term as I could point out more specific kinds of rock in the list) or electronic/industrial music.

Are there any specific kinds that are more meaningful than others...like I am obsessed with metal, I like other music but can't do without metal.
