Do you use alloys right now? I thought that Aluminum is expensive.

It's expensive only if you pay for it mine is scrap. I want to work up to brass and bronze and eventually iron but they take more equipment so I practice with Al.

I made the furnace out of a bucket and refractory cement. The couple times I used charcoal with a blower forcing air in at the bottom. Last time propane in where the blower was. First you put scrap Al
in the steel crucible wait for it to melt skim off the scum on top and pour. The hand was a simple sand imprint type cast. I am working on making molding sand so I can make more complicated things but it take practice

You have to do it outside. Some fumes not bad though with Al other metals they can be very bad.
