[b] Has anyone met somebody and became friends with them and then found out that that they had a psychological disorder ? I mean like:Dissocitive disorder,Bi-polar disorder,schizophrania(i hope i spelled that properly) and if so did thoughs relationships work out ? or are they too difficult to handle ??

Most of the people who I've formed successful and close friendships with have had either mental health issues (paranoia, depression, bi-polar etc.) or have been on the autistic spectrum. I find that it helps as they understand what it is like to be 'on the outside' and to feel excluded and like people don't understand you or think you are weird.

I guess I get on with these people because we have these experiences in common and also these people tend not to play tricks or mind games or be manipulative which are all things that I am not able to cope with.

I didn't think I'd ever have a boyfriend - but now I do! I met him last year. He has suffered from severe clinical depression and anxiety. He and I understand each other's difficulties and are therefore very patient with each other. We also just have compatible personalities and get on really well. I even get on with his best friend...who just happens to be an aspie!

So, to answer the question - I've had a very positive experience. I have also met people with mental health issues who have been abusive and manipulative - but those are most definitely in the minority and it would be unfair to judge all people with mental health problems badly simply because a minority can behave in an unpleasant way. You just have to be careful of people who are looking for someone vulnerable to abuse, and also of those who are looking for someone to be dependent on.

But overall my experience has been very positive.

I have HFA along with Bipolar and PTSD.

I've met:

*ALOT of people with AS and HFA(The majority of them being EXTREMELY annoying)
* ALOT of people with major depression
* ALOT of people with Bipolar Disorder
* A few people that are dyslexic(my Dad and sister is one of them)
* We think my youngest sister is hyperlexic
* I forgot to mention that my mom has AS,OCD,Bipolar,and BPD.
* A few people with personality disorders
* About 3 people that are schizophrenic

These days, I think it is more likely you will have someone with a mental disorder among your friends than that you wont lol. Quite a few aspies have bipolar as a co-morbid, myself included most likely. I would say how difficult it is to get on with a person with issues depends very much on the issues, but borderline personality disorder sufferers are notoriously difficult to get on with.

I have a friend who is bipolar.

Most of my friends have some mental disorder or another.
I am in a band where my bass player/boyfriend is an ADDer
My drummer has narcissitic personality disorder and my lead singer/sax player has bi-polar schitzophrenic
I am diagnosed as ADD but I have a big hunch that I am actually an Add/Aspie...if such a thing exists...

somebody down my hall just said "g*d dam* blahblah and your OCD...i mean ADD"

haha. two way different things.

I think you can have ocd tendancies if you are an ADDer...i have gotten them...(uncontrollable habits and whatnot)

my first roomate in college was bi-polar we got along great...

I have one bi-polar friend(sometimes, when she's on a high) another with OCD, and another with GAD(generalized anxiety disorder).
Therefore, my Asperger's is no real problem with my small group.

I'm pretty sure my mom has about every mental disorder in the book. We don't get along.

I gots quite a bit o weird stuff in my family..some of it is downright nuts and does not bear repeating....
