Here is the dialogue. You are supposed to figure out why the man says what he says. It took me a second to figure it out.

Womon: "I'm leaving you."

Man: "Who is he?"

Yes, took me about 2 seconds. It's not always true though, sometimes people just leave.

Interesting. I think I am good at this kind of thing, but my first thought was "total non sequitur."

It took me at least 3 seconds to come up with the implied accusation.

My process went something like:
Huh?
This makes no sense.
Oh! Maybe he means...

I do that a lot when I read or listen to words. When I'm tired, I don't get past the second step.

I think the test also works as a joke, I suspect NTs would also get that " " moment before they got it, then they might laugh. But I think the response time might be quicker.

It's probably the guy the woman was having an affair with.

The man has amnesia

Oops I misread. He thinks she is leaving him for another guy.

That was my answer too, although the woman might not be leaving him because she's seeing another man, so it seems like the man is jumping to conclusion.

I heard those lines used as a joke & in TV & movies so I got it rite away.

I got it instantly.

My dad uses such assumptions quite often ("Were you with him?", "Are you going to him?", "Is he calling?") towards my mom so I learned what it means. I know mom has no other guy and she is just shopping/visiting grandma/getting phone call from aunt etc. so it was really confusing when he started his "paranoia". But now I get what he is talking about.

The only thing I still can't figure out is whatever he is really serious and paranoid or just kidding to get my moms attention. But I will never know that even if I ask because he might lie that he jokes or joke that he is serious. Mom says it is both - he is paranoid but he jokes about that so it doesn't sound too serious because he actually knows he is just paranoid. So complicated...

I've seen that, yes people can be that complicated, so she's likely telling you the truth. I think people often make jokes about things they're trying to come to terms with. It laughs off some of the tension and makes it harder to fear the subject, and shares the anxiety in a relatively soft-touch kind of way.

How? I don't see how it's funny.

I get what he's saying, but it makes him sound not very manly. Dudes don't say things like that. It's kinda fussy and overly dramatic and unnatural coming from a man. Of course this is a joke so it's made up.
