I don't know about AS symptoms; I don't stim a lot with or without alcohol, but it doesn't make me feel any more social or talkative. So for me, I guess not. although it might make me more relaxed about obsessions (not entirely sure).

But being tipsy does soothe my anxious mind, sedates me.

Alcohol makes me social and talkative and stops my stims

Sort of. However, it can bring out suicidal ideations for me, so I don't see it beneficial in general.

Yes, for me it helped with social anxiety while creating many larger problems. It is a steep and slippery slope. It wrecked my life way worse than dealing with ASD.

I would not recommend using alcohol.

If you live in CO or WA, try pot instead. Much safer.

Doesn't work for me. I still don't like social situations, but I'm drunk so I can't even drive home.

I think its quite common for not just those on the spectrum, but most with some type of social anxiety. Alcohol chemically is a depressant so it will slow down most brain activity. Hence the poor motor control and slurring of speech. I think the symptoms us Aspies deal with is that of stimming etc, are just less prevalent or slowed on alcohol. I do not recommend it however. Its bad for long term health and as someone mentioned it can lead to suicidal thoughts in us.

It temporarily and considerably soothes some of the symptoms. However, it causes an increase in anxiety and depressive thoughts when it wears off.

Small amounts help me. Large amounts...let's just say I've learned my lesson after a single incident.

Not in my case. Alcohol only makes me full (loss of appetite), dizzy, mildly asthmatic, sick, flushed and sleepy, although I do like the taste of dry rosé wine.

Alcohol does tend to soothe me.

It helped me not dread social situations but when I drank too much I became super honest (beyond my normal aspie honestness). I would also tend to start dumping on people about my interests which I had learned to somewhat inhibit when I was sober. Knowing what people were thinking became even more difficult.

It mostly helps my nerves by making me tired.

It lowers inhibitions thus in many cases causing to you do the very things you are anxious about doing in public.

Yeah, I noticed that whenever I get tipsy (or really tired for that matter), I'm able to open up a bit more and be more sociable. However, it doesn't exactly erase all of them as I know I was still shy to kiss my fiancee when I was drunk, even though I could tell she wanted me to. So it's not exactly a cure all to ASD.
