My son is born to one US citizen (me) and one 'foreign national' on foreign soil. His birth was registered with the US Embassy and thus he has had citizenship from birth. I have a certificate to prove it. They gave us an information leaflet saying that he is a natural born citizen and thus eligible for the presidency should he meet all other requirements (residency, age, etc). However, it has never been tested in court and case law would be the final determining factor. I believe that Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen, too and thus eligible. If he did get the nomination (which he won't) someone will take it to court and he will be prove eligible.

I also believe that if Barack Obama HAD been born in Kenya he would also be a natural born citizen, but alas, he was born in Hawaii and therefore can't be the test case for my son's eligibility for the Oval Office.
