I have a cat and a rabbit. They get along pretty well, but I don't let them run around together just in case. The cat used to be afraid of the rabbit, but now he is much, much bigger than her.

Also Tolstoy is so cute! I love fluffy kittiens :)

My dog Viggo used to be afraid of our other pets (two red-eared terrapins, a guinea pig). He was adult when he came to us (replacement dog), but it took him a bit of time to get used to them. His former owner laughed at him and said that it was obvious he wouldn't be the boss among the pets we had!

There is something very endearing about these less-than-courageous dogs!

This is a really soothing chat!

I've had various pet animals since I was three, including turtles, fish, rabbits, mouse, ducks, dogs, horses, cat, pigeons, and finally Greater Vasa parrots. I greatly prefer associating with non-humans than humans. Now that I've retired early from antitrust law and my kids have left the nest, I live with two Greater Vasas, nine horses and one annoying Great Pyrenees. I do not understand how that can be called "living alone."

I'm envious of people from Great Britain because you have lots of pet Vasas; there are very few in the U.S., and I want more.

If I'm too depressed to get up or go to sleep on time, my Vasas take things into their own beaks. They either complain until I do what they want, or, if I ignore them too long, fly over and bite me. If that doesn't work, they poop on whatever bare skin they see. I assure you, that last gets me out of bed even in my most energy-less states. :)

It so isn't!

your Greater Vasas seem like great and caring pets. :)

What kind of turtles did you have, and do you still have turtles?

I had a tiny pet store turtle before kindergarten, and then captured several big box turtles when I was older. My parents would help me make elaborate environments for them, but I think we let them go into the woods after a few months inside with me. I can't actually remember, but I do remember how other pets died, including the first tiny pet store turtle, so I think all the box turtles survived.

I also caught tadpoles and raised them to be frogs and let them go. Frogs are not very interactive. :)

Elaborate environments? Sounds like you made an interesting home for the turtles. Mine merely had aquariums with water and basking area. Box turtles are lovely

It's great that you had tadpoles and released them as frogs. It helped them survive. I've never had a pet frog, so I wouldn't know what they are like as pets, but frogs sure are cute. :)

If there was an Amazon warehouse full of cat toys and a cardboard box, my cat would choose the box every time.
