I am fluent in English and German. I used to speak quite good French (I'll get it back one day.) And I can read and speak basic Japanese (currently learning it.)

I speak Spanish and English at a native level, and have a strong understanding of italian, portuguese and french. I also know enough Japanese to eavesdrop on someone's conversation

I recently realised that I'm truly fluent in zero language. Although I use only English every day, it's my second language and your second language will never be as good as it should be. As I hardly ever use my first language, it's rusty. What a disaster!

I'm fluent in English, I've been learning French at school since kindergarten, and I've started learning Spanish.

I only really speak so-called "American" English. I know a little French, but that's mainly because of what I remember being taught in school and read on bilingual cereal boxes. Sometimes I like to make up something silly in French just to see if anyone will understand it, or because I assume Americans think we can all speak French up here. :)

There is a community where I live where people speak Acadian French, and in some *really* rural places I've seen signs in Gaelic or Aboriginal languages. Sometimes I wish I could speak a different language fluently. People who have learned to speak at least two or three other languages are supposed to be really smart.

or maybe they just started really early, it's known babies and children have a much easier time absorbing language than old coots like me. that and knowing other languages gives you more ways to put words to your feelings, expressions. possibly.

raised in a mostly English-Spanish environment, spanish is my "first" language but english is my "dominant" language. i'm sure if i loved in a spanish speaking area my abilities would be more even.

i'm teaching myself a bit of hebrew though if i were asked why i chose Hebrew, i wouldn't be able to answer them.

I like Hebrew! :) Semitic languages looks for me mystical and ancient - great qualities while I have interests in history and occultism. But I know just some words from Hebrew and Arabic without ability to really speak them.

Cats have very interesting body language, with their eyes, ears and tail. Small eyes and/or blinking means happy, big eyes means surprise/fear, showing teeth means anger. Tail up or tail making a question mark means hello. Tail wagging uneasily means annoyance.
