Such very narrow interests

Dad just attempted to show me something called Pharrell Williams, which I had never seen before. I was not at all interested in it.

That doesn't mean you have narrow interests.
It just means you're not interested in Pharrell Williams.
I'm not particularly enchanted by "Dancing with the Stars"--that doesn't mean I have "narrow interests."
I guess, in order to form a relationship with your father, that you might have to at least pay lip service to Pharrell Williams--why is he so interested in him?
