Did anyone actually try to buy property on the sun from her?
Either she figured there are some very stupid people out there, or she doesn't seem to grasp that, providing that we could ever reach the sun, her buyers would be incinerated before even reaching it's surface.

 I just saw the tweet on Twitter, haven't looked further into it to see who bought what but if you can have a star named after you for a fee...who has the right to name some star millions of light years from here after someone else and what does it matter, anyway? Yet that is allowed.
It would be bought as birthday presents for sun worshipers, probably, just tongue and cheek without any real expectation. Sounds kind of like a gag gift.

I was going to buy the supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy. But it's too far away to claim.

The sun isn't exactly in the 'tesco value' range of stars but it's nowhere near 'price of a canoe in venice' range in the scorching scheme of things regarding the sun pantheon

No one owns the sun, so how can anyone sell it? Of course you'd get shut down if you try to sell it.

The story is about another story originally printed in a sleazy British tabloid- the original printed story itself might be an unsourced scam.

Wasnt there some real scam kinda like that years ago of folks taking your money in return for them "officially" naming a star after you? Since there are a 20 times as many stars just in this galaxy alone as there are living humans, and an infinite number of stars in the universe in principle its perfectly possible to find a star to name after each person in the human race, but this group had nothing to do with the official astronomy community which officially names objects in space.

You wouldn't actually be able to use your "property."

In fact you can't even look at with the naked eye!

All that glitters is not sold!

Yep! Using it could be only on paper....like send everyone a monthly heating invoice?

In fact I think I once owned 1 square inch of land in Alaska, when I was a kid that some cereal company was using as premiums, little tiny deed and everything. I never used it for anything (hope the property taxes haven't been building up). :D

No, but in any event, could I interest you in a Timeshare on a gorgeous and quite iconic piece of late 19th century archetecture just seconds away from the Financial district and Lower East side of Manhattan, as well as the trendy, hipster freindly, up and coming lower Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn?

You could build your dream house on your acre of the surface of the sun. Of course you would need A LOT of electricity for air conditioning to live there. But thats no problem. Just use solar power! :D

Anyone who would fall for something like that, needs to have their computer taken away from them.
