I heard about that potential earthquake, said to treathening Vancouver. (And because Seattle is pretty near...)

yeah if Cascadia does a full margin 8.5+ it will be epically nasty.
they say that everything west of I-5 will be total destruction
it will be the most expensive disaster in US and Canadian history if it fulfills it terrifying potential
Still likelly less that what the Yellowstone Caldera will do.

100% correct.
Cascadia's quake will only damage a rel. small area...its tsunami will only affect the Pac. ring of fire
YELLOWSTONEwill change the entire planet and would doubtless be the worst natural disaster in Hominid history...nothing else would be close

That complex is on the North American plate.
The Cascadia is a subduction zone which pushes under the edge of the N.A. plate

I think this could only happen if a specific volcano was already poised to blow because of high pressure in the magma chamber. In a low pressure situation, there's nothing about sloshing the magma around that is going to make it blow.
