I don't sense autism in the classical sense. More in the Aspergers sense. I sense more what was called "minimal brain dysfunction" in the 1970s. I had similar symptoms--except later in childhood.

I was classically autistic, with no speech and extreme behavior, about age 5. Then I became Aspergian. I had the "brain-damaged" label as a young school-aged child.

I sense he will have behavioral difficulties, but might well succeed academically. If you keep vigilant, his chances if success is better.

It's possible that he might be Aspergian, caught in the trap of a defunct diagnosis.

Is it possible that he is just a quirky kid with a few autistic tendencies?

Definitely possible.
