Jeez, someone ought to tell that douche that as a Christian minister, he's supposed to feel compassion for those in need, not accuse them of being motivated by a lust for western luxuries. Maybe he should read up on how Jesus treated the poor and desperate.

I guess not, I'm more worried about this mans potential of becoming president than Trump.

Relax. He's running from 1% to 5% in the polls, depending on which one you believe. Chris Christie has a better shot than he does---and Christie has none.

Oh yeah---these polls? They're taken from likely Republican primary voters. That's how he's polling among like minded people.

If the refugees come to US for cable TV, they may end up disappointed.

Same with all those mexican illegal 'aliens', and terrible canadian terrorists that warrant a wall separating us from Canada as well...no doubt. Hell where are the drones to shoot all these dregs of humanity down before they can taint our precious lands stolen from the natives.

And let their rotting bodies pile up just outside the border, offending nearby American citizens with their stench? Better take the bodies, carefully remove their meat, put back their bones out there as a warning to fellow would-be immigrants, and make burgers with the meat. Wouldn’t this be the real American way? :D

Regarding the stolen lands, that’s how the law of the jungle works. Force is what legitimizes everything. If the former natives didn’t want you to take over what were their lands, well, tough luck, because you proved to be stronger by defeating them and thus you get to write history and dictate the new laws. Likewise, you don’t want others to take what is now rightfully your land, so they’ll have to defeat you if they are to get it; if they are weaker than you and unable to defeat you, the joke is on them. Force is inherently about inequality; more precisely, about getting the inequality to favor you.

Au contraire, if you profess a religion according to which you should be compassionate with those in need, and still don’t want to give a s**t about the poor and desperate, it makes perfect sense to take advantage of every excuse to make them look as bad as possible. It avoids the cognitive dissonance and lets you keep your religious and political allies.

Even though he would probably deny it, Hucksterby, like a great many American evangelicals, is influenced by the Prosperity Gospel, in which the rich are simply being shown God's favor with material blessings for their faith and upright living, while the poor are being punished with poverty for their lack of faith and moral fiber.

In a side note, what you people call "evangelicals" are actually fundamentalists. Lutherans, Anglican/Episcopalians, and Catholics are the true Evangelicals, and for the most part we don't politicize the pulpit. The Bible should inform our decisions when we vote, but voting is in the realm of Caesar, and we should never forget that.

That is true. I was speaking from the American definition of evangelical.
My pastor never gives political sermons, and that is one of the biggest criticisms we Lutherans have for fundies.

Be careful though, with the word evangelical and Lutheran, Bill. It's used to describe the ELCA, which hasn't been either Evangelcal or confessional Lutheran, since the merger of LCA, ALC, AELC, those churches that broke away from LC-MS, and the Lutheran Church of Canada, in 1987.

Also, I would exclude the Holy Roman Catholic Church (both Western and Byzantine rite) and the Anglican Communion as being evangelical.

In addition, I would include the United Methodists, the Wesleyan Methodists, and a few Presbyterian Denominations (namely PC-USA) as evangelical.

I think where a lot of the confusion comes with fundamentalists and evangelicals comes is that the fundamentalists (namely most forms of Baptists (since Baptists themselves can't agree on how to interpret the Bible), Assemblies of God, Churches of God (with the possible exception of the Church of God--General Conference out of Findlay, OH (a denomination that I'm quite familiar with, considering that I grew up in that denomination, when it was called the Churches of God in North America and was based in Harrisburg, PA), and the independent churches are pretty much Pentecostal in nature. A lot of their theology is based on the Dutch Theologan Jakob Arminius. In addition, some of these denominations are also classic dispensationalist (a system of theology most notably devised by the English Theologan Cyrus I Scofield) or neo-dispensationalist (Craig Blaising and Darrell Bock), as well as Covenantial in outlook.
