To think in words...

i think our minds simply simulate senses that have meaning attached. like sight and sound. u dont see the physical picture or hear the sound itself; you "see" or "hear" the meaning.

I have no idea...I am trying to think what I think in lol. the thoughts are just there...that is all I know. Sometimes, I see images, but I mean, my thought is constant so...hmmm.

i would classify actually seeing the written word in your mind as a picture

Thats interesting. The only time I cant say in my mind a word is when I see it spelled out in my mind. And it can be almost excruciating trying to say it In my mind. I can say it out loud, but not think it.

I always thought it was a mental abberation until discovering AS.

It just means an inner dialogue -- I hear my own voice in my head, constantly debating and weighing various concepts. I'm more auditory than visual, unlike most autistics, but I can think in moving diagrams without words, as well.
