It is truly remarkable how much I could relate to this song. Eminem is the greatest. :D

Yes people had issues interpreting body language of others when they did not say what they meant back in 1971

I recall I once saw something about an 'Aspie Anthem'. Now I can mention some songs I'd definetely think of, regarding autism, Asperger's syndrome and so on. First of all, there's Tame Impala's 'Solitude is Bliss', well, the title speaks for itself and it has a dreamy and detached feeling to it- even more suitable. Then Radiohead's 'How To Disappear Completely' is about trouble dealing with people, with touring and so on and is simply soul-piercing. Then, Joy Division's 'Disorder' is another song about it being hard to socialize and understand people's behavior. And Tame Impala's even better 'Why Won't They Talk To Me?' is an even better anthem for outsiders. The lyrics are "Out of the zone, now that I know, I don't need them and they don't need me. I guess I'll go home, try to be sane, try to pretend, I thought I was happy..."

Of course, there could be more... I certainly value people's opinions, yet cannot avoid the notion that people tend to put the message they want to hear into well-known and simply popular songs- people can imagine some Lady Gaga or Eminem song to be about whatever- according to their preferences. Not that I cannot understand the value of relation and sympathy and association as well, but sometimes it comes across merely ridiculous- I find it hard to relate personally to such huge figures and their lyrics.

Did you listen to the song I posted? Yes it is by a huge celebrity but the lyrics are undoubtedly "aspie like" here are some of them:
"I used to be the type of kid that would always think the sky is falling
Why am I so differently wired? Am I a martian?
What kind of twisted experiment am I involved in
Because I don't belong in this world
That's why I'm scoffing at authority, defying often
Flying off at the handle with my mom, no dad
So I'm non complying at home, at school I'm just shy and awkward
And no I don't need no goddamn psychologist
Trynna diagnose why I have all these underlying problems
Thinking he can try and solve them
I'm outside chalking up drawings on the sidewalk
And in the front drive talking to myself"

The lyrics to this song seem very aspie to me.

Every time I close my eyes
I find myself in the corners of my mind
And I'm in there, here somewhere
Under the covers I can feel it it's pulling me
No one can know where my mind goes
My dreams more real than my reality
And a memory inside of me will it be with me forever until infinity

Waiting for my conscious calling
Listening to hear me talking
Slowing down the rate of motion
Focusing inside a notion
Catching myself falling over
Looking back and seeing no one
Walking through this Lucid Dream again

I've recently self-diagnosed (waiting for an official diagnosis) and have found Don't Be So Hard On Yourself by Jess Glynne really comforting to listen to! I really relate to it because I feel like I've been putting on a front for my whole life really, in order to fit in, and it's made me incredibly tired. But I'm getting to know the real me now :D

I came here with a broken heart that no one else could see
I drew a smile on my face to paper over me
The wounds heal and tears dry and cracks they don't show
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

Let's go back to simplicity
I feel like I've been missing me
Was not who I'm supposed to be
I felt this darkness over me
We all get there eventually
I never knew where I belonged
But I was right and you were wrong
Been telling myself all along

Don't be so hard on yourself, no
Learn to forgive, learn to let go
Everyone trips, everyone falls
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

'Cause I'm just tired of marching on my own
Kind of frail, I feel it in my bones
Oh let my heart, my heart turn into stone
So don't be so hard on yourself, no

This song represents what Aspies often feel about most of the world

I really liked Eminem when I was a teen but I haven't listened to him much since then. I think a big reason why is the violence stuff that's in his songs. I just no longer feel much of a desire to want revenge or to cause harm to others. I'm more detached & apathetic & feeling lost now from the rest of the world. I majorly want the authority & people in power running this world to have a major change but I don't want the violence stuff. Minus the violence stuff, Legacy seems like something a lot of us on the spectrum could really relate to.

I think the Good Charlotte song, The Clique sounds like a good theme song for this forum

Just because I walk
Like Obi-Wan Kenobi
You people talk
But you don't even know me
And that's all right
'Cause I get down with G.C.
So I walk on and
Listen to their C.D.
Some people laugh
They do it just to spite me
Behind my back
They don't know what I see
But I don't care what they say
I don't need them anyway
I'll just go about my day
But anyway

You go out on Friday night
I'll stay in but that's all right
'Cause I have found a clique
To call my own in-crowd
Out-crowd
I don't care your crowd
My crowd
We can't share
'Cause I have found
A clique to call my own
(Let's go)

So come and talk to me
On my computer screen
The best years of our lives
Aren't as easy as they seem
But one day we'll look back
And then we'll have to laugh
They used to call us names
Now they want our autographs
To get the girl and make the grade
It's all a show
It's all a game
And I would lose it if I played
It's all the same

So I don't care what they say
I don't need them anyway
I'll just go about my day
But anyway

You go out on Friday night
I'll stay in but that's all right
'Cause I have found a clique
To call my own in-crowd
Out-crowd
I don't care your crowd
My crowd
We can't share
'Cause I have found a
Clique to call my own

She says she'd call
But I know she won't
(She won't)
(She won't)

You go out on Friday night
I'll stay in but that's all right
'Cause I have found a clique
To call my own in-crowd
Out-crowd
I don't care your crowd
My crowd
We can't share
'Cause I have found a
Clique to call my own

I don't care what you say
I don't need you anyway
I'll just go about my day
But anyway

I don't care what you say
I don't need you anyway
I'll just go about my day
But anyway

In the in-between
Stuck in shoulder to shoulder scenes
in the horror of a new place,
all these strangers make me feel strange

red hot blood in my cheeks
with every breath it gets harder to breathe
but I push on
pray it gets easier
past the chaos
I shoot like a meteor

I’ll always go
Even tho I know
hell is a crowded room

So Why do I go
even though I know
hell is a crowded room
hell is a crowded room

small talk is getting so old
it’s like I have a new mouth and don’t know the controls
But I long for
echoes from a crowd
So I’ll shake hands
Till they wear out

that’s why I go
Even though I know
Hell is crowded room
Hell is crowded room
Hell is crowded room

every free fall
I put myself through
is worth all of the fear
to sing the truth

Plastic World by Naked Aggression

It's not my fault that I'm f#cked up
I'm just a product of a selfish world
My whole life I've been an outcast
Now I don't care, I don't want to fit in anywhere

People are so quick to judge me
I do not care I will not change for them
There's so much pressure to conform
I'd rather be dead than act fake and end up like them

We live in a plastic world where
People like us seem to fall through the cracks
I'm sick of people putting me down
Cause I don't live up to their f#cked up standards
I have created my own world
There's no rules I can be myself
I don't care if they don't like me
I don't care if they don't like me- No!

It's not my fault that I'm f#cked up

“I’m Still Here” by Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rzeznik (if you’ve seen a little film called Treasure Planet, you’ve heard this before!) is my personal Autistic Anthem. So many relatable lyrics.

I am a question to the world
Not an answer to be heard
Or a moment that's held in your arms
And what do you think you'd ever say?
I won't listen anyway, you don't know me
And I'll never be what you want me to be

And what do you think you'd understand?
I'm a boy, no, I'm a man
You can't take me and throw me away
And how can you learn what's never shown?
Yeah, you stand here on your own
They don't know me 'cause I'm not here

And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me 'cause I'm not here

And you see the things they never see
All you wanted I could be
Now you know me and I'm not afraid
And I wanna tell you who I am
Can you help me be a man?
They can't break me as long as I know who I am

And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They can't see me but I'm still here

They can't tell me who to be
'Cause I'm not what they see
Yeah, the world is still sleepin'
While I keep on dreaming for me
And their words are just whispers
And lies that I'll never believe

And I want a moment to be real
Wanna touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong
And how can they say I never change?
They're the ones that stay the same
I'm the one now 'cause I'm still here

I'm the one 'cause I'm still here
I'm still here, I'm still here, I'm still here
