It doesn't matter to me--but it would matter to most NFL football players.
One time, when I was working for the Census, I wanted to use the European "7." I was told not to--because it "UnAmerican" LOL
I bet taking my oath of allegiance to the UK would likely disqualify me to work for the US Census.
FWIW, I do not cross my 7's or 0's, as I don't consider numerals part of the alphabet.
(Of course my scribbling looks a lot like a third or fourth grader's printing, so crossing numbers might add confusion.)
The NFL players and staff would have to realise that I no longer consider myself an American, only a US resident, thus they would have to get used to my variations in spellings the same way they would taking on a player born abroad.
(But beware, If I ended up on one of the teams that flies to the UK to do the exhibition game at Wembly, I may decide not get on the return flight back, terminating my football career.)
