I just had elderly women tell me how they wish their daughters or granddaughters would go out with me but none of those women actually set me up or came on to me themselves.

People lie to look civil.
They don’t actually mean what they say.

Dishonesty is the real social lubricant.

I realize something that makes me feel like the odds were already against me. My male friends had no sisters my age (They were either older or much younger or they had no sisters at all) nor did they have female cousins or didn't introduce me to them at all if they did, the people my parents associated with generally didn't have daughters my age, and even my therapist told me she wishes she could've had daughters or nieces that she could've introduced me to. My developmental years were extremely lacking in interaction with the opposite sex. Even today, it's still hard for me to interact with women because most women in my area behave very "girly" in that they only know about shopping at Macy's, gossiping about other women, reading romance novels, watching sappy drama TV shows, listening to Kelly Clarkson or Taylor Swift, and going to church. I don't really encounter many women who like science fiction, listen to music that isn't Top 40, play video games that aren't Candy Crush, and are non-religious or atleast not brainwashed by Bible Belt Christianity.

That's how I see it.
Could be it or at least some of it.

Parents and grandparents usually tell their daughters to not date men like me. If one brought me homed they’d try to talk her into leaving me. I’ve seen and heard how they view men like me.
Most would tell em to avoid me too for the same reasons but I guess the older people see me as an exception to that rule because of how sweet I am. They also tend to notice how their daughters or granddaughters are getting used & abused by men or just hurt by men for whatever reason & the older people see me as real safe but I'm probably not seen as attractive by most women for those reasons.

The "old grannies" think I am a "handsome young man" while women my age think I am ugly, possibly gay, or even a killer in waiting. And people here wonder why I am so depressed and discouraged.

Being nice is considered homosexual by women in the Bible Belt while calling them "Hoe ass b***h/slut!" and punching them is considered heterosexual. This is especially prominent in the hip-hop/ghetto culture in my area.

One of my co-workers told me she was surprised I didn't shoot up a school because I was bullied.

As I've gotten older, my perception is that younger people sometimes want to be serious in a long term relationship, but usually they hit a wall as they reach their mid twenties where they really start to think about how that's all they've experienced and time is running out, so they break it off. The 30 year old has something to lose here, too.

Oh you're like me, you want someone you can share your interests with.

Most people date and marry who they are attracted to, not who they relate to.

I think my more masculine interests are a disadvantage when trying to date. I dont make men feel masculine enough because I'm too like them even though I dress in feminine clothes.

I think I confuse them.

Damn right I do.

My older brother scoffed at me for wanting that and only saw his girlfriends as "cum dumpsters". He's now wishing he could trade places with me.

I'm almost the same age as you, and remember having the same desires. When I was 18, I wanted a serious girlfriend more than anything. Although, that was partially because I "knew" that flings, one-night stands, and hookups were beyond my ability. Lo and behold, I found one, only she was unattractive and boring. I was in love with her anyway, because "love the one you're with".

By my early 20's, I stopped wanting a relationship and started wanting hookups. Well, they didn't happen; I was too ugly for any girl to have casual sex with me. And I stopped wanting a relationship. So at 22, I hired my first escort, who took my virginity. And that started a 15-year escort sex habit.

Today, I don't want a relationship, either, albeit for different reasons. I saw many people I know get into relationships, and fully realized how boring and unpleasant relationships really are. So I'm happy being single. And my sex drive is barely 1/100th of what it was 15 years ago, so lack of sex is absolutely not an issue.
