Why the race card is ok, but not the "I have autism" card?

The "I have autism" card is not bad.
It is widely CONSIDERED bad because the autism rights movement is still in its early stages. Too many autistics are either telling themselves "I'll just try to be normal and deal with the discrimination." or "I'll just spend my life on welfare so I never have to fight for anything."

We need to remember that we will probably NOT live long enough to see a cure for autism ... so forget about all that.

I have a hard time accepting the premise in the title of this post. sijce when has it been socially acceptable to "pull the race card"? Also, autism is a recognized disability that entitles one to special treatment including accommodations at work and school, Voc Rehab to help you find employment, and SSI if you're unemployable. I know. I've advocated for myself several times since getting my diagnosis.
