I confess that Modrić is just awesome - he was so fragile and skinny as a boy that some couches said he shouldn't play...but he was practising in the parking lot, day after day, when not hiding from the grenades. He's one of the best now:

Modrić is from a hamlet near Obrovac, all his family is from there...but of course, maybe some grangrangrangrandad might have been related to some Dutchman passing these areas.
