I confess that Modrić is just awesome - he was so fragile and skinny as a boy that some couches said he shouldn't play...but he was practising in the parking lot, day after day, when not hiding from the grenades. He's one of the best now:

Volimo te Modriću :D

He’ll get a hefty pension from Croatia.

at the moment he's 40 million euro heavy at real madrid and well should be, since if he'd rely on our pensions, he'd bankrupt quite quickly - janica kostelić, who was the best ever in the world of skiing up to 10 years ago, receives 5400 kuna of pension per month (730 euro).

She did get though more than a million kunas from the city, as a reward for her merits, hope he gets at least as much.

Modric looks a bit like Johan Cruyff. I wonder if they could be related....

Modrić is from a hamlet near Obrovac, all his family is from there...but of course, maybe some grangrangrangrandad might have been related to some Dutchman passing these areas. :jester:

I confess that Luka Modrić is pure awesomeness embodied:

https://indianexpress.com/article/fifa/ ... s-5265537/

Quote:
Croatian skipper Luka Modric impressed with his performance on the field in the recently concluded World Cup in Russia as he went on to win the Golden Ball award. Now, the midfielder has won hearts off the field as well with his brilliant gesture during Croatia’s celebrations at a ceremony in Zagreb. During the event, the 32-year old was told that a boy suffering from Down syndrome wants to shake hands with him as he is a big fan. Modric spent no second in inviting the boy to the stage with him to celebrate. He then hugged the boy and kept his arm around him until the end of celebrations.

I confess I haven't read the eight pages and have no idea what this thread is about.
