What does this mean? I been getting it sometimes or this website is unavailable.

This captcha crap gave me nervous meltdowns. The site is buggy and we can do nothing about it. Just input the code as many times as necessary.

You enter the 180 (or whatever it is), and they let you in.

I think I may have gotten some myself once or twice.

The same reason that they sometimes (for me not always but half the time) make you do the captchas to post in threads.

Its to keep the legions (LEGIONS!) of spammers we get every day. If you come here early in the mourning you may seem them before they get deleted in the General Autism section: all of those "Astrological help for your love life from our service in India" things. They can fill up a whole page at the start of the work day on WP before they get deleted. Its so they know that you're not a robot.

in that case it would make more sense to provide a captcha when starting a thread and not as mush as when replying to one. this "breed" of spambot doesn't seem to be able to do the latter, and since they don't quote (only that in my experience at least, triggers the captcha) they get free reign to do the former.

Just hit back, copy/paste what you entered and re-visit the thread.

It's a pain, but it's a glitch.. one of the last remaining ones I've seen here, but a glitch nonetheless.

the "error in posting" and "smilies data" glitches were fixed.

the bug that required posts to be "approved" by moderators shortly after the new site went online was stamped out as well.

for several months starting in february avatars and other info could not be changed because of a new profile layout. that has been done away with. it's not all doom and gloom.

What do you mean? We getting a new site?
