I wondered how many people with AS have ADD too. Or are they mutually exclusive?

I know I have ADD as well as asperger's. I think they do go hand in hand. That may be just my opinion though.

Just I have some serious problems that don't quite fit my AS. It never occured to me, my sister mentioned it. Do you take drugs for it? I'm really frustrated being stuck in a rut not being able to use my curiosity properly and earn a proper living.

I've got ADD.

I used to take Adderall for it but gave it up. It had far too many side effects for my system. Once it builds up in your system (well, my system...) it just made me into a zombie. And now I'm just not into drugs or polluting my system with medication. Because when it comes to ADD, there's no silver bullet or cure-all. I must admit that out of all the meds I took, Adderall seemed to work the best. But the stuff makes my head fuzzy and I hate not being clear headed.

I'm officially Diagnosed with ADHD. This was a long time ago though. I still have difficulties with moment sof hyperactivity, and attention span, but I can control it most of the time.

The teachers thought I did, but I can pay attention to anything for any amount of time if I give a rat's ass.

I've probably got ADD. My psychiatrist gave me ritalin for it once, but the stuff just made me feel speedy. :?

In that case you probably DON'T have AD(H)D (unless the dosage was too high). Ritalin has a speedy effect on people without AD(H)D. People that have AD(H)D respond to Ritalin differently. It makes them less restless.

I am undergoing tests to see if I have ADD and Aspergers. I use Concerta 36 mg and it seems to work for me. After all those years of thinking about 30 things at the same time, it's so nice and quiet in my head with only 3 thoughts, it's easier to focus, I'm less hypersensitive and I don't get stressed out by people so much anymore.
At first I thought it was a miracle drug, but it's not. It does help though and makes my life a lot easier.

You might be right, then. I do show a few signs of ADD, but they really could just be AS traits.

I really don't have the hyperactivity problem. Sure I get hyper sometimes but not all the time. I was really hoping to hear that the drug make you more clear headed. That's what I want it for. I was diagnosed with executive frontal problems, but that was just one test. Granted the guy that did it was quite good but that doesn't mean he considered every cause/knew about it or that was a cause. I hate the NHS I feel like banging my head against the wall but that won't help. For me my attention wavers. But the real problem is my brain goes into meltdown. I'm not distracted so much as my brain says no more. I go in a in a 'null' state. it is really starting to piss me off. I can't imagine achieving anything. I've failed at so many things because of it. I just can live with myself without being able to do stuff it's not in my nature. Cheers for the answers

What I read its better to seek out a doctor that normally treat children with ADHD and
that will also see adults. Doctors that only see adults are very poor at dealing with adult
ADHD.

I think most ADHD drugs are only approved for children in the UK (which I guess your from) so it might be problematic to get medications. A nasty drug known as reboxetine is available in the UK. I imported some (I'm in the US). A high dose of it 20 mg seemed to do wonders for me getting work done but the side effects were too much and when I ran out I did not order any more.

Oh I have inattentive type ADHD myself.

0_equals_true, you sound a lot like me. I believe I have inattentive ADD along with AS. I'm not keen to try any kind of stimulant because I've found that stimulants such as caffeine and amphetamine make me even more nervous and jumpy. But we're all different! Some find caffeine is enough to effectively medicate their inattentiveness!

My sister found a place in croydon that specialises in it. Why do they not alow drugs for adults?
