Sad, Sad day.
His song "Changes" and the song he made a hit for Mott The Hoople "All the Young Dudes" said stop bieng stuck in the 60's. For those of us for whom the hippie phenomenon did not fit, it offered up the notion there is an alternative path. Unfortunately it would take American youth another decade or two to partially catch up to Bowie. The older I get the more relevant to me "Changes" becomes. These words us older Autistics need to be mindful of when we advise the next generation
Quote:
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through
Is there any genre of music in the last 45 years he did not influence?
He influenced glam rock and new romantic of course, electronica, disco, new wave, post punk indie/alternative, goth, industrial, British soul and more. Madonna is different from Bowie in many ways, but she built on what Bowie started by bieng a different charactor for each album.
Outside of music with his "gender bending" back in the '70's, he had a role in the greater LGBT acceptance we see today.
