Why don't people just post the text of the story here with the link?

I don't want to be clicking to outside websites.

Because the story isn't here, I don't know what to say.

Maybe the kid had it coming.

Walters should have been fired on the spot and never allowed to teach ever again. Autistic or not, no teacher should ever lay their hands on a student to do them harm unless it's in self defense.

If you don't know what to say, maybe better not to say anything.

When the action was pulling a kid off a table and allowing him to fall to the floor, then refusing to help when he was obviously hurt, there is no conceivable additional information that would make "maybe the kid had it coming" a reasonable speculation.

Because it is against Wrong Planet rules to copy and paste an entire article. Using selected quotes is allowed. In the time you wrote your rant you could have clicked on the link and read at least part of the article.

Any teacher who treats an autistic child - or any child, for that matter - like that, obviously feels hatred and contempt for the students.

Things like this only serve to increase my disdain for the human population.

IMO, teachers who take pride in being bigots towards students with special needs should have reconsidered their careers before becoming teachers.

I would imagine some of them go into teaching just for the power it gives them over others.

It also gives them the feeling that they are entitled to abuse power.

Reads to me that
A. Teachers weren't educated or
B. Didn't follow an Indiviudal Education Plan
or C. Intervention Pyramid.

Me.... Still too old to know it all ....
